-May 21, 2002 - Part 15 - Finishing Our Tour & Saying Goodbye-

I think this was in front of the B. Dalton book store. I always enjoy book stores that are "clean and pleasing".

These posters were hung high up on the wall in the back room of Kay-Bee Toy & Hobby.

On our way back to The Clock we noticed these mall directories set aside in what used to be Dey's.

This was one of the coolest things we found that I was excited about taking, the plastic sheet from the mall directory sign. Unfortunately, I did not get to take this home. Our Tour Guide told us that we shouldn't take it, that the Burdick people might need it. So, I left it on the base of The Clock before we left. I've since received an e-mail from someone who found this directory about 6 months later in the same location. I guess the Burdick people didn't really need it after all.

We had our Tour Guide film us holding some of our findings.

We then started heading out the way we came in, towards the newest addition to The Mall.

We spotted this directory on the way out, it looked like new plans for the auto dealership.

John and I then said our goodbyes in front of the old water fountain.

John was saying how this would be the last time we saw our mall look even remotely the way we remembered it.

This was our last view before we left Penn Can Mall. It was sad to see the mall in such a state, but it was also kind of nice to be able to see it one last time before parts of it would either be demolished or redesigned. We were glad to have been able to go back and take this tour, as adults, and remember why we look back so fondly on the time we spent in Penn Can. I'd like to thank the managers at Burdick who let us into the mall and allowed me to film whatever I wanted. I'd like to give a big thanks to our young Tour Guide who took about 2 hours out of his day to show us around the mall and share some of his stories with us. For some reason, we never got his name. Maybe he'll see this site some time and recognize himself. If he's reading this, send me an e-mail! Thanks also to everyone who read my little story, hopefully it brought back some good memories for you as well. Be sure to check out the rest of the site and...
