"It's happenin' now at Penn Can Mall!"

-Classic photos sent in by Mike Hepp - page 12 -

This photo of an almost completed Hills store was dated August 13, 1983. Hills wouldn't open until October 24th of that year.

Here's a great shot of the main entrance from 1981. Click on these photos to view them full size.

Again from 1981, here's a picture taken from the edge of the parking lot. Thanks again to Mike & David Hepp for letting me put all of these great photos on the site. Mike tells me there are only a couple more left in the photo album, so I'll post them as soon as I get them.

These next couple of photos are ones that Mike Hepp took in May of 1994, when most of the stores had already left The Mall. Here is the Hills wing.

Here is a good shot of Center Court, with everyone's favorite clock still standing tall.

Burlington Coat Factory, which was Sears for the majority of The Mall's life.

I never usually went in this entrance, but this was the sign you could see coming down Route 81 South.

Now, I'm not sure when this was taken. This is an aerial view of the north side of Syracuse. I've drawn a red circle around where Penn Can Mall is located. This will probably be the last of the photos that Mike Hepp has sent in. I'd like to thank him (and his father) again for taking the time to scan all of these pictures and letting me use them on the site. If anyone else has any pictures of The Mall that they'd like to share, please send an e-mail to the address on the bottom of the page.

This is a scan (courtesy of Mike Hepp) of an ad on the back of a booklet from the Cicero Senior Center in 1988, and includes a complete list of stores that were in the mall at that time. Click on the photo to view it full size.
