In March 2017 I was lucky enough to be able to interview the former owners of Sweetheart Market, George T. Gelsomin and his father George E. Gelsomin, for the Syracuse Nostalgia Podcast. This episode of the podcast is scheduled to be released on April 12, 2017. George T. was nice enough to share several old photos and newspaper articles from his collection. Here are his photos, most of which I had never seen before.

The first picture is from the 1970s, and is the only color photo I've seen of the original Sweetheart Market corner store.

The next two pictures are from 1979. In the second photo, you can see the new store being built behind the old store.

This picture of the front of the newer store, including Fay's Drug Store, is from the 1980s.

The next two pictures were taken in 1995. The first is of the famous Sweetheart Corner sign, and the second is of the bakery department in the store.

The newspaper article on the left is from January 16, 1980. The one on the right is from March 16, 1995. You can click on either one to view it full size.

I'd like to thank both Georges for not only letting me post these great photos, but for also being such great guests on the Syracuse Nostalgia Podcast!
